It’s no secret that the Alberta tech industry is on the grow. With over 2300 tech job openings in Calgary1 alone, it’s hard to ignore the boom. And this number just keeps growing as technology does. But what about the Albertans that want to get into tech, but aren’t sure they have the skills? Well, we’ve got an announcement you won’t want to miss!

We’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with InceptionU and the Alberta government to provide OnRamp Growth Marketing and Lean Sales Bootcamps for InceptionU’s new Tech Adjacent program. The Alberta government is supporting the overall program with a $1.2 million Workforce Strategies grant from the Ministry of Jobs, Economy, and Northern Development. We’re working together to expand OnRamp and help Alberta develop “homegrown” talent for our growing tech industry. Read the full press release here

Designed by 321 Growth Academy, OnRamp provides early-career professionals the chance to learn with real companies and real projects, under the guidance of industry experts who’ve driven growth inside some of Alberta’s most successful tech companies.

If you’ve followed us for a while, it’s no surprise that we love working with our friends at InceptionU. They’ve supported our first two cohorts of the OnRamp Growth Marketing Bootcamp and we’re thrilled to work with them again.

Our shared passion for preparing talent for meaningful careers makes our continued partnership a great fit. We also share a mission to reduce barriers for talent. At OnRamp, we’ve helped under-represented groups in the tech industry break into tech marketing roles with a 72% placement rate for OnRamp graduates. We’re also proud of our diverse cohorts with 65% of participants being women, 51% people of color, and 34% new immigrants.

We’re particularly excited about the Tech Adjacent program for its unique approach to helping Albertans discover their best-fit career in tech. Program participants will participate in deep career work up front before picking the technical stream they are most interested in and are suited for. Traditionally, candidates apply for technical training programs and then do career-fit discovery work throughout the technical training.

Participants will have a choice of four streams initially: growth marketing, sales, full-stack design, and coding support. By working with us to determine their interests prior to training, job-seekers will find a better fit and a higher success rate in the program.

And did we mention that this program is meant to be accessible and offered at no cost to unemployed or under-employed Albertans? (This just keeps getting better!) 👏

Applications open on June 5th and the program start date is September 18th. Ready to apply now? Learn more here
