We’re thrilled to announce that our debut cohort of growth marketing students has been selected and have officially started their journey.  We received an overwhelming number of applications from qualified and passionate prospective individuals this year, and are beyond excited to be launching the program with a full contingent of eager participants ready to begin careers in tech marketing.

We are also extremely grateful for the support we’ve received from some of Alberta’s leading tech companies this year—these businesses have helped sponsor the training we’re delivering to students, provided real-world learning opportunities as part of the curriculum, and created opportunities for graduating students to enter the workforce upon completing the program so they can start the next step of their careers on the right foot.

A special shoutout to our funding partners: 321 Growth Academy, The A100, SAIT School for Digital Technology & Alberta Enterprise Corporation.

Benefits of the Program

OnRamp students will learn the fundamentals of growth marketing, receive detailed training for key skills and tools, and—perhaps most importantly—gain experience applying their new knowledge and capabilities in an environment that mirrors the pace and demands of the tech industry. By the end of the program, they’ll be able to create social media posts and blog articles, read analytics dashboards, run email campaigns, and more.

Most importantly, students leave OnRamp as T-shaped marketers—reliable hires with a broad enough skill set to design campaigns and strategies while also possessing specialty skills and in-depth knowledge of several specific areas. This, increasingly, is what competitive tech companies want: highly competent marketing generalists with targeted specialist skills.

Alberta Tech Companies Supporting the Cohort

OnRamp is proud to be working with some of the brightest Alberta-based tech companies to support our inaugural cohort. Our participants will have the opportunity to work with these company partners on a variety of real world projects for in-market campaigns. Here’s the companies that our first cohort will be working with:

Attabotics

Using a unique patented storage structure inspired by the framework of ant colonies, Attabotics replaces the rows and aisles of traditional fulfilment centres to drive supply chains into the future. They’ve been featured in TIME, CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, and more.

Envirosoft

Providing emissions quantification and data management for oil and gas companies via their own foundational platform, Envirosoft helps clients reduce costs and risk, increase their confidence in GHG emissions data, and capitalise on carbon opportunities. They’ve partnered with Enerplus, Kelt Exploration, Torxen, and a growing list of other major energy providers.

G2V Optics

G2V Optics provides accurate solar simulation technology for use in photovoltaic product design, photochemistry research, developing aerospace technology, and creating solar energy projects.

Goodlawyer

An interactive online service that makes it easier for clients to find and hire legal help based on their individual preferences. Goodlawyer has been featured in CBC News, The Globe and Mail, Global News Bay Street Bull, and Betakit.

Platform

Headquartered in Calgary, Platform provides numerous programs, scholarships, and awards to help entrepreneurs create successful startups and scale them up for growth. They’re also behind the upcoming Platform Innovation Centre, a hub being built in the downtown core to provide a single point of access for entrepreneurs seeking resources and community support.

Stagehand

Stagehand is reimagining live music experiences by creating a digital platform where artists and venues can find each other. Contracts are stored and managed online to keep them standardised, secure, and in a central location that all parties can access. Stagehand has received recognition from the CCMA Awards, FACTOR, Platform Calgary, and more.

Symend

Transforming individual customer experience is the name of Symend’s game. They strengthen customer engagement strategies by increasing open rates and click through rates while reducing wasted calls, using their trademarked Behavioral Engagement Platform.

Tiller

A Calgary-based web development and design agency that builds next-level websites and provides targeted promotions for brands and products. Tiller has been named a Top Digital Agency by Upcity, one of Clutch’s Top 100 Tech Companies in 2021, and received numerous CSSDA awards—including Best UI Design, Best UX Design, and Best Innovation.

Virtual Gurus

Virtual Gurus is a B2B company that facilitates curated matches between businesses and pre-vetted, highly-skilled, on-shore virtual assistants to streamline their administrative and operational workloads.

ZayZoon

ZayZoon eliminated financial stress related to cashflow by providing employees with on-demand access to their earned wages—eliminating late bill payments, bank overdraft fees, and payday loans. By creating average annual savings of $702 per employee, their easy-to-integrate solution has been adopted by businesses like McDonalds, DoubleTree by Hilton, and more.
